Free Night
A Respite Night for Parents with Special Needs Children
The vision of FREE NIGHT is to glorify God by giving time out to parents who have children with special needs. Our desire is to offer moms and dads some much needed "adult time," while their children receive skilled care provided by volunteers from First Free Church under the supervision of members of our Medical Mission. Your child's safety is of utmost importance to us. We create a detailed profile of your child's medical and behavioral history (including medications and interventions). Parents are required to keep their cell phones with them during the evening in case of emergency. Each child wears a tag with his/her pertinent info on the back. There are CPR-trained individuals at each event, and often medically trained persons, as well. Children remain in a secure area under adult supervision at all times.
The evening is generally unstructured, with children moving between various activities in the craft area, gym, video room and quiet room (if needed). We also plan age-appropriate singing and story times.
FREE NIGHT is:
-
Open to special needs children and their siblings
-
For children four years old through sixth grade
-
Full of fun children's activities--including games, crafts, singing, videos and a Bible story
-
Free
-
Provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
We ask that participants register two weeks in advance of each Free Night, so that we can match the number of volunteers with the number of children. An application form must be completed and children must be accepted into the program prior to participation. Submit an application.
